LOVE this darling, engaged couple! LOVE their engagement session! MANY more to come.

Hanna is my darling, ‘all grown up’ neighbor and she is graduating… that’s right Class of 2013 Senior!  I’m so pleased to show off a few of Hanna’s senior photos here.  She is such a beautiful gal through and through and I absolutely love her dear family. We met one evening to photograph Hanna and had a great time!  We ended the evening on the mountain side doing some sports shots because Hanna is not only darling, she’s got skills… totally athletic.  Ummmm, jealous! Yep, can’t throw a softball straight to save my life. ;) Anyway, we froze in that final little location but it gave us some really fun images and lots of great variety.  Hanna… you are an absolute doll.  I wish nothing but the best for you!  Enjoy!

I loved photographing little Ava… who was as angelic as they come for her newborn session.  Not even ten days old, little Ava was sleepy and pleasant as could be.  Miriam contacted me the moment she got home from the hospital and we began planning.  She missed that super sleepy stage with her first little one and was determined to catch this little window of opportunity to have Ava captured with the rest of the family.  We settled on touches of vintage and lace in pinks and teals and I am so pleased with the results.  Miriam’s living room had just the right amount of light and once we were all set up and had a cozy little heater blowing toward Ava, the rest was smooth sailing.  Love giving beautiful images to my wonderful clients.  New ones are only this size for such a brief period.  There is just something so beautiful, real and innocent in a session like this and I LOVE IT!!  Ava, her sister and her momma are just gorgeous.  Enjoy!

Photographing weddings allows me to meet some pretty wonderful people and their families.  I have loved working with Jonathan & Naomi, from their first session with me to celebrate their engagement all the way through to their wedding day.  I have to confide that when Naomi’s mom, Diane, left me with a box of chocolate iced cake donuts the day of Naomi’s bridals, she made it to the top of the charts.  How did she know that’s my favorite flavor? ;)   Then there was meeting both families the day the of the wedding which only convinced me further that I get to work with some of the best!  Of course, I couldn’t mention the families without mentioning the bridesmaids and groomsmen.  They have a way of keeping the bride, groom and myself just rolling.  Best moment… when Naomi and her girls broke out dancing.  Just classic! :)

Happy Monday!  Photographed this sweet little two year old this weekend; what a little character.  We caught such a variety of expression from Jacob that every time I look through his session, it makes me laugh.  What a little clown!  It’s been a busy few months with weddings and receptions but this weekend I got to do one of my favorite things… simple, clean, lovely window light.  I know you’ve heard me say it fifty times but it so true… natural window light is beautiful and fantastic.  It’s so flattering.  Most of us don’t realize that we have the potential for great images right in the walls of our own homes.  Try this. Find a nice big window, place your subject level with the window… preferably with a fair amount of the window extending in front of them.  The bigger the window the better.  Choose a spot where your subject is in front of a plain backdrop (wall).  Make sure that indirect light is hitting your subject… you don’t want to bright them with direct sunlight.  That will give you the opposite effect. :)   Expose for the brighter side of your subjects face and then just have a little conversation while you snap away.  You will surprise  yourself with some lovely little images!  Happy shooting and have a great Monday.

Enjoy a small peek into Patrick & Angela’s wedding reception at the vibrant and beautiful, Ogden Hilton Garden Inn.  Rich, vibrant and beautiful in every way.  I have a new favorite! :) Thank you for a very fun evening and for being such a fabulous pair to get to know.  You two deserve the very best.  Enjoy!

Josh & Emily met up with me last year to photograph their engagement photos.  We had a grand time tromping over town.  Soon after the wedding, we chatted about an idea… Josh & Emily wanted to document their first year of marriage in photos.  I jumped at the chance because they are just fabulous people.  We’ve spent time in the mountains for their first session in the Fall.  Today, I’m sharing their images from their winter session.  And yes…. we did skate… photographer included!  The fine gentlemen at the rink said I couldn’t set foot on the ice unless I was wearing skates… well, that was it.  There was no way I was going to photograph from the sidelines. :)   It must have been quite the sight.  Anyway, Josh & Emily are just as in love and comfortable in front of my lense as always and we captured some really fun images.  These guys are adorable – a total treat. Enjoy you two!

Remember Josh & Emily, from their sessions here, here and here?  Stay tuned for a full post of their newlywed winter session at Salt Lake City’s Gallivan Center ice rink… coming soon!
