Happy Monday! Photographed this sweet little two year old this weekend; what a little character. We caught such a variety of expression from Jacob that every time I look through his session, it makes me laugh. What a little clown! It’s been a busy few months with weddings and receptions but this weekend I got to do one of my favorite things… simple, clean, lovely window light. I know you’ve heard me say it fifty times but it so true… natural window light is beautiful and fantastic. It’s so flattering. Most of us don’t realize that we have the potential for great images right in the walls of our own homes. Try this. Find a nice big window, place your subject level with the window… preferably with a fair amount of the window extending in front of them. The bigger the window the better. Choose a spot where your subject is in front of a plain backdrop (wall). Make sure that indirect light is hitting your subject… you don’t want to bright them with direct sunlight. That will give you the opposite effect. 🙂 Expose for the brighter side of your subjects face and then just have a little conversation while you snap away. You will surprise yourself with some lovely little images! Happy shooting and have a great Monday.

Ogden Utah Engagement Photographer – Josh & Emily’s Winter Session
February 8, 2013Josh & Emily met up with me last year to photograph their engagement photos. We had a grand time tromping over town. Soon after the wedding, we chatted about an idea… Josh & Emily wanted to document their first year of marriage in photos. I jumped at the chance because they are just fabulous people. We’ve spent time in the mountains for their first session in the Fall. Today, I’m sharing their images from their winter session. And yes…. we did skate… photographer included! The fine gentlemen at the rink said I couldn’t set foot on the ice unless I was wearing skates… well, that was it. There was no way I was going to photograph from the sidelines. 🙂 It must have been quite the sight. Anyway, Josh & Emily are just as in love and comfortable in front of my lense as always and we captured some really fun images. These guys are adorable – a total treat. Enjoy you two!

Ogden Utah Missionary Photographer – Nick
January 28, 2013Nick is preparing to submit his papers and will soon be awaiting his call to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Every missionary needs a nice photo to include with their papers and I couldn’t be happier to fill the need! It was an unbelievable mix of weather the day I photographed Nick. My sweet, little car couldn’t make it up the driveway for all the ice this recent storm left behind. Gentleman Nick came and picked me and all my photo gear up at the bottom of his drive way. What an adventure! 🙂 Thanks for inviting me to shoot these for you Julie. It was a fun afternoon. Nick is a great guy and he will be one fantastic missionary!
Ogden Utah Wedding Photographer – Thomas & Tiare
January 12, 2013It was a beautiful wintery day for Thomas & Tiare’s wedding day at the LDS Timpanogos Temple. Typically, winter weddings can be a bit bare but I think that Tiare and I were both so pleased to have a fresh blanket of white; the effect for this wonderful couples wedding day is unique and elegant. It is now my new favorite winter wedding to date! All the family and friends were just as welcoming and warm as the happy couple. It made for a wonderful day of photography. Love getting to celebrate these happy occasions with such choice people, their family and their friends. Congratulations, Thomas & Tiare… your wedding day was just as beautiful as they come and with such wonderful people surrounding you, life can’t help but be good! Enjoy!
Ogden Utah Wedding Photographer – Thomas & Tiare’s Reception
January 12, 2013Thomas & Tiare held their wedding reception at the BYU Skyroom after they were married at the beautiful LDS Timpanogos Temple. What a celebration! The evening brimmed with fantastic entertainment and a lot of magical moments. They held a sit down dinner for themselves and all their guests which is such a lovely way to spend the evening. There were several wonderful stories about Thomas & Tiare, a short ring ceremony, an enchanting duet, roasts of the bride and groom, a knee smacking song about peanut butter and jelly, the BEST first dance I believe I have ever seen, a sweet cake cutting and a very classy exit. Such a great evening for such a deserving couple. Thomas & Tiare, thank you for inviting me to photograph this incredible day for you. You and your families could not have been warmer or more welcoming. It was such an enjoyable evening. Best wishes in your new life together. I hope you enjoy what we captured. 🙂
Ogden Utah Children’s Photographer – Great to be 8!
December 8, 2012Kimberley is eight and so excited for her baptism at the first of the new year. Her mom & dad set aside a special day in preparation for Kimberley’s baptism. They drove to Salt Lake City where they met me for a very special photo shoot around the Salt Lake Temple. Even though the weather was chilly, Kimberley was glowing and did such a great job in front of the camera. She just bubbles over with happiness and all things sweet and good. I am so happy for her, excited for her special day and honored to be a part of her preparations. Dan and Bobbi, you are raising one beautiful gal…. inside and out. Thanks again for a fun morning, all of you, and enjoy! Kimberley, you’re the tops!
